Okay so this isn’t actually a direct run to a pub, or even a run at all, but I think it can fall into the normal theme of some form of exercise before stopping for a drink somewhere. My friends and I were up in Vancouver for the weekend so we biked around the city, stopping at Mahony’s tavern in our lap around. So, we’ll count it.
The *Bike Ride*
The bike ride was beautiful. We rented the Mobi bikes, which are just another one of those bike rental companies through an app like Lime bikes in Seattle. We started by going down towards the beach down by Davie Street, which was quite busy with people as it was a nice day. We then went up the street where we didn’t cross the bridge to, but could see Stanley Park to our left. I must do a Stanley park brewing run at some point in the near future. We continued the bike ride along the north side of downtown Vancouver, to the harbor where there are many personal yachts and cruise ships docked. Plus, stunning views of the mountains to the north. This was where we parked our bikes to walk around and stumbled upon Mahony’s. All in all, the ride was not very long or challenging at all, but it was more about the time spent stopping along the way to see the sights. And get a little bit of exercise in to earn our pints.
The Pub
As for Mahony’s, the location could not be much better as far as views are concerned. On the water with the mountains nearby in the backdrop. Never wanted to jump in and go for a swim more. We were seated outside, where they have a large outdoor seating area. The outside is decorated normally, which was fine. The inside was decorated more like a traditional Irish pub, which we weren’t seeking out, just stumbled across it by chance but that is always a plus. I got a Guinness which was actually quite nice. After visiting a few places in Vancouver, I think I have come to the conclusion that Guinness is much better in Vancouver than down in Seattle. I also put down quite a nice split of the G in my second pint there.
Overall, I had quite a bit of fun on this outing, but it wasn’t exactly the challenging run that goes with the theme of this page. Don’t expect this exercise to the pub to be too often of an occurrence, but I do have some other ones in mind that would be quite fun to do. So, there’s that. The score also can be that accurate because of the circumstances, so it will be more of a run of the mill score despite the location being impeccable.
RATING: 6.5
